“We must become so alone, so utterly alone, that we withdraw into our innermost self. It is a way of bitter suffering. But then our solitude is overcome, we are no longer alone, for we find that our innermost self is the spirit, that it is God, the indivisible. And suddenly we find ourselves in the midst of the world, yet undisturbed by its multiplicity, for our innermost soul we know ourselves to be one with all being.”

Apu - God or spirit of mountains.
Apu was a god or spirit of mountains and the important mountains all had their own Apu, and some of them receive sacrifices to bring out certain aspects of their being. These spirits live in both the middle and upper worlds, and can intercede for humanity. The apu also served as protectors, watching over their surrounding lands and protecting the people, livestock and crops.
“Life is a play that does not allow testing. So, sing, cry, dance, laugh and live intensely, before the curtain closes and the piece ends with no applause.”
― Charles Chaplin, Charlie Chaplin: Interviews
